We currently have funding for an MS or PhD student to work on the evolution of the self-incompatibility locus of poppies (Papaveraceae). High quality graduate and undergraduate students and postdocs are encouraged to contact me. If you are interested in doing research related to any of the topics described, or other areas of evolutionary genetics, please contact me.
Our lab is well equipped for high-throughput evolutionary genetics, and there are close collaborations among labs at UAF. Evolutionary genetics at UAF is strong and growing. There are more than 10 labs focused on evolution and genetics.
Fairbanks is an extremely welcoming community, with many opportunities for outdoor sports. Groomed cross country ski trails start just outside the building, downhill skiing less than 30 minutes from campus, and many places for hiking, bird watching and snow machining. Denali National Park is just 2 hours from campus.
