Dr. Gary Holton

I teach courses both in the Linguistics Program and the Alaska Native Languages Program. Most of my courses focus on functional explanations for language structure and on building an appreciation for the beautiful intracacies of the grammar of Alaska’s Native languages.
On the UAF campus I regularly teach courses in morphology and syntax as well as in linguistic field methods. I also teach courses in Athabascan language structure, both on campus and at a variety of regional language workshops.

ANL 251: Introduction to Athabascan Linguistics [booklet]
ANL 393: Community Language Documentation [presentation]
Ling 604: Morphology and Syntax [sample syllabus]
