Response description:
1 – 11 September 2006. Responded to a massive die off of Short-tailed Shearwaters that occurred in Unalaska Bay. Sent birds in USGS, National Wildlife Health Center.
Role in response
Birds were tagged and measured using the California and Washington based COASST protocol. Organized volunteers to perform bird counts on six beaches (8 miles) in Unalaska. Worked with the AMNWR on a project to establish the removal rate of carcasses from depositional beaches.
